Latino Open Golf Tournament

4th Annual Latino Open Raises Funds for Education
Latino Leadership’s premiere event empowers families, students

Golfers supporting Latino Leadership’s education initiatives competed for prizes and bragging rights during the fourth annual LATINO OPEN golf tournament on May 6 at the Reunion Resort and Club in Orlando, Florida.

“Playing for fun and prizes is always good, but when you are helping the community at the same time; it is priceless” commented Lui Damiani, Orange County district 3 Commissioner, who gave the opening remarks to the golfers and supporters.

As the major fundraiser for Latino Leadership’s network of education programs and services, this year’s tournament was a smashing success. Netted funds will help provide complimentary admission and school supplies to the more than 200 individuals that participate in the Southeast Regional Latino Family Conference.

“The Southeast Regional Latino Family Conference brings together parents, students, and educators to speak about the choices we make in life and their impact on the future. This year’s theme is It’s Choice not Chance that Determines Your Future. We want all individuals who participate in the conference to know they are the main decision-maker for their future,” said Marytza Sanz, Latino Leadership’s President/CEO. “This fundraiser will help ensure these activities continue” Sanz added.

This year’s golf tournament would not have been possible if not for the support from GM/Cadillac, Wal-Mart, Brugal Rums, Presidente Beer, Coca-Cola, My Golf Concierge, Resource Employment Solutions, Republic Services, Kermit’s Key Lime Pie Shoppe, CenturyLink, LATINOlinkVIEWS, and other extraordinary sponsors.

Golf tournament committee members included Marucci Beard, Marytza Sanz, Ty DeLavallade, Alejandra Jimenez, Ashleigh Korzack, Joe Angelastro, Eddy Dominguez, Frank Campos, Rudy Martinez Rodriguez, Ben Robles, and Amílcar Cordova.
